Go Team!

My name is Derek Fox, a soccer coach for the San Ramon Soccer Club. I started coaching soccer in 2005 but that was not the beginning of my soccer career. When I was about 10 years old I played my heart and soul for the San Ramon Soccer Club, Scorpions, Hellcats, wow that was a long time ago. The funny thing is that I am still in contact with about 50% of my soccer team from back in those days. One thing that I have learned from the game of soccer is that your teammates are friends for life.

I remember when we only had parent coaches and two fields to really play on. We had reversible jerseys, all grass fields, and $10 shoes. The game has come a long way since then and for the better. All weather fields, paid professional coaches and people that truly care for the health of the game.

The sport is finally getting the recognition that is always deserved. It is the number one sport in the world and I am glad to see that the passion for the game is hitting the USA and the San Ramon Valley. I am honored to be apart of all the new generation of soccer players and living those dreams that will last for ever.

I have been involved in soccer of over 23 years as a player and now as a coach. I will be the first to admit that being a coach is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done in my life. The excitement of game day, the hard times, the great times, they all make up this wonderful game.

I was the assistant coach for the Gold San Ramon FC Team ‘06, head coach for the Silver San Ramon Infernos ‘07 and the head coach for the California Freshman Men Team ‘07. Every team has been such a joy to work with and it has been so awesome to see all those players grow in the upcoming years.

It has been such a pleasure to we give back to the very city of San Ramon and I look forward to another 25 years strong as a coach. I appreciate everyones support and lets keep the game alive because this game is for everyone. So many memories yet to capture and I look forward to wins, the loses and the ties because in the end we all walk away winners.
